Lakewood Acepot educational moment

What a great group of people Jeff and I met at the Acepot at Lakewood last weekend (Feb 17th). The pressure was on as we played with some very seasoned players (Brian, Justin & Kye). A special thanks to those guys for not giving us too much grief ;) They were truly impressive to watch. Eric, AKA Edge, hosted and organized the Acepot event at Lakewood. You can read more about the event on Eric’s blog if you are interested. We will try to keep the viewers of this blog informed of upcoming events such as the Acepot and by all means if you know of an event you think we should be posting please let us know.

Here are the AM rankings for the day. Yes that is Jeff and I at the bottom :(

Seattle Parks & Recreation – Pro Parks Levy Oversight Committee

A few months ago I posted a brief blog, attempting to raise local awareness about Seattle’s intentions regarding several orphaned parks and green areas in the greater Seattle area. As a Seattleite, and avid disc golfer, I saw fit to bring you all up-to-date.

The Pro Parks Levy Oversight Committee was to meet this past Continue reading

Round two at Lakewood Park – Weaver & Jonathan

By the time our group had finished up playing Mineral Springs Park the sky was beautiful and the sun was out. Mike and I chose to head over to Lakewood Park in West Seattle (White Center area) to take advantage of the perfect disc golf weather. The front nine went quick and we thought we might even finish the course with the sun still in the sky. But that just did not happen. It got dark quick and we played Continue reading

Sunday Disc Golf in Seattle’s Cold Wet and Windy Weather!

There were 4 of us that turned out for disc golf today. I don’t blame those who bailed. The weather was unpleasant to say the least. The hoodie I wore is still saoking wet. I am not sure if Jeff, Dean and Linda kept there scores for the game but here are mine. Nothing to be proud of but not bad for playing with minor frost bite and the extra 10 pounds of soaking wet clothing. Cheers all and Happy Holidays from RoundBrand ;)

Unity For a New Disc Golf Park in Seattle

Seattle is currently holding community meeting to get feedback on what the public would like to see done with several orphaned parks throughout the Seattle area. I have a contact that can assist in getting our group (need 50 people minimum) to submit a plan for the redevelopment of one or more of these park as a mixed use park to include a new disc golf course. Since I am not a public city planning savvy guy I need help organizing this as well as we need to start a petition. I need volunteers to help me kick this off NOW! The city will be making decisions early next year.

Just think, we could have a brand spankin’ new disc golf park here in the Seattle area! If you love the game and want to see the city get involved with our spot than please send me a message ASAP. I am looking forward to getting involved.

The Sidewinder & the Beast – 2 New Discs

I have been looking for the perfect distance driver for a while. I really like my current line-up but really wanted to find that dare-to-be-great disc that would fly flat and fast. A perfect long-drive-killer for t-shots like the #12 at Lakewood. What I found were two INNOVA distance drivers. The first is a bright salmon colored Champion Sidewinder weighing it at 165gm & the second is a green and purple Champion Beast weighing in at 168gm. The aerodynamics on the Beast are promising with my current t-shot style. I am looking forward to Lakewood this weekend to give them both a spin.

Lakewood Disc’olf Course – Play Date

The day was beautiful and I ruled the course. Thanks to my (HM’s) two Orc Innova discs I left with a 68 stroke game. Not too bad.

I am keeping this blog short today but wanted to let you all know I am working to improve the blog both visually and technically. Most recently I have added the Folfing Flickr account images to the site. Enjoy the few images I took with my iPhone this weekend at Lakewood.

FOLF

This week we will once again be playing North Sea-Tac on Thursday night. If possible be at the first hole by 6:15pm. If you are coming but running late, give a call and we will wait. Next week I think we will be doing Wednesday night at Lakewood.

As for last weekend we went and experienced Lake Fenwick Park in East Kent. Tight course built into a ravine. Also very overgrown. It was a challenge. Ethan teamed with a local player by the name of Jim and shot par through 11 holes. Then the rain came and we bailed. It was a fun course that I think we will have to try again on a dryer day.

As of now I am not sure there will be a weekend round this week. Kara and I will be starting our sitting duties and there is also rain in the forecast. If we play I would guess it will be Sunday afternoon at Lakewood. Give a call if that interests anyone.

Lastly, for the final weekend of the month I am hoping to play the course on Vashon. This will take some coordinating as we will want to try and carpool on the ferry ride.
