Disc T’s On Order – what next?

RoundBrand Disc Series 1
Our shirts have been ordered. I don’t expect to have them for a while but I will keep you all posted. I have been thinking of other items we might brand and design for the masses like disc towels or skullcaps…just thoughts. Enjoy the sample images in the mean time and as always, if you have an idea for a design please let me know.

Back at it and a quick look ahead

I am back in town and I am thinking at this point we will try to play a game Saturday down at White River in Auburn. When we nail down a time I will utilize our new text message system to get the info out to you all.

Also, just as a heads up, I was looking at one of my favorite websites here and after March 14th we start getting sunset times after 7pm.  At that point I think I am going to do away with the mid-week night games in the dark and switch to some earlier start times so we can actually play in daylight and use our regular discs.  Keep an eye out for that.

Lastly, no major news on the Bag Tag Challenge other than Matt and Eric going at it three times last week.  Just one reminder though to help me with record keeping.  Please report scores with your Handicap included.  May seem minor, but when we recalculate Handicaps I need to know that all correctly.  As of now I don’t think people have been doing that which is making our data a little unstable.

No Games This Week

Just a note to everyone that I am not scheduling anything this week.  I will be out of town Friday through Monday so hopefully I can get some games up for next week.

We are up to eight players in the Bag Tag and we have already seen some numbers changing hands.  Keep trying to get more people to join as registration is open until the end of March.

Side note here, on Monday Mike Plympton and I drove to Portland and scored with a glorious afternoon of 36 holes at Pier Park.  This course really is a must play when you are down there.  This course has it all.  Elevation shots, tight lines with tons of trees, long open holes and a really clean and well kept park.  Check it out!

Get game times & locations via Text Message

For those of you who just don’t get to the website often enough to keep track of RoundBrand disc golf game times but do have a cell phone that is text message capable; your solution is here. On every page of the blog you will see on the right side a short form to receive txtmsg updates.

You will only receive text messages regarding game times. Posts with recaps etc, will still be found here on the site. Remember your carrier may charge you for text messages so please take this into consideration. We will not SPAM you so only expect between 5 – 10 txtmsgs a month.

As always you can also subscribe to the RSS feed that is set to your email and/or get updates posted to your favorite RSS reader.

Week in Review and the Week Ahead

So Plympton, Jonathan and I went to the community meeting regarding Westcrest Park on Saturday morning.  I was glad I went because it is obvious that the neighbors are very on board with having a new disc course at the park while the Parks Department and their outside project management firm clearly already have their own agenda.  Without going into too much detail here, I urge you all to join us at the next meeting which will most likely be in April.  I will remind everyone via this blog as to the exact time and date when announced.  If the disc golf community shows up like we did at the meeting on Saturday they will not be able to ignore us.  We dominated the room in numbers and kudos to everyone for being open minded to the concerns of everyone involved.  It will be close to a calendar year before the works project truly launches so we have time to make this happen.  If we can continue to win over the neighborhood I think we can see something exciting happen here.

Schedule this week will be Wednesday night at 7pm at Lakewood again.  Meet at Hole 14.  Then on Saturday at 11am we will be playing Sea-Tac.

One last note is that the Bag Tag Challenge has officially kicked off.  The only challenge played was on Wednesday when Matt challenged me at Sea-Tac.  I finished with a 68-85 win to preserve my #1 Ranking for now.  Make sure you all let me know when you get your challenges played.

EDIT: Plympton was apparently challenged by Weaver during our game on Saturday.  Weaver won 63-74 which means they should have swapped tags.  Weaver is now #4 with Plympton dropping to #7.

Bag Tag Challenges Begin and Schedule for the Week and a Meeting

Challenges start this week for our Bag Tag Challenge.  Emails will be going out shortly to everyone that is signed up so they will have contact info and course choices for each of the participants.  Players need to play at least one challenge every two weeks, but doing more than just one is encouraged.  If you have not signed up but are still interested you have until the end of March to do so.

This week our night game will be Thursday night.  Once again let’s meet at Hole #14 at Lakewood to start.  Tee time will be 7:15PM.

As for our weekend game I will avoid Sunday because of the Super Bowl, but let’s do a game at Lakewood this Saturday.  Tee time will be 12:45PM.

Before the game Saturday I am planning to attend a meeting that with the Seattle Parks Department.  There are apparently discussions about making a new course in Westcrest Park.  I encourage all of you to come out to show how many people are for this happening.  From a purely selfish perspective I love the idea of having three courses within a short distance of my home.  Beyond that though, a course at this park should offers some wonderful vistas of downtown on a clear day with some interesting elevation changes on the holes.

The meeting runs from 10AM to Noon on this Saturday the 6th.  I hope to see many of you there.
