Your Avatar – No Not The Movie

Some of you RoundBranders have asked how to get that litte image next to your name on comments.  Well here is the quick and dirty.

  1. Got to http://en.gravatar.com/ and sign-up for an account
  2. Upload the image you want to use.
  3. Use the email address associated to your Gravatar when making a comment and registering with RoundBrand.
  4. Voila – you now have you very own avatar that will follow you no matter if it is posting on RoundBrand or posting somewhere else that has the Gravatar plug-in enabled.

Now what image to choose?  I am happy to help with that too.  Here are 4 avatars from RoundBrand.

Bag Tag Update and Schedule for This Week

Alrighty folks.  We played our kickoff for the Bag Tag on Saturday,  but if you missed it you can still join in.  We will leave enrollment open until the end of March, but challenges will kick off as of next Monday the 1st of February.  You need to track me down to pay your $10, fill in the sign-up sheet and get a tag.  Next Monday a post will be up to kick off the challenges.  I will also be emailing out to everyone all the contact info for all players so that players can easily set up challenges.

This week we will be playing a night game at 7:30PM on Wednesday night at Lakewood.  Meet up at hole 14 for the start.

Also, on Saturday we will be playing White River again in hopes of a dryer game than we had yesterday.  Tee time will be 11am and if it is nice enough out we may try to run through the course twice.   This game is relaxed and most likely will be a doubles format, so new players are encouraged.

Bag Tag Kickoff This Saturday the 23rd @ North Sea-Tac Park

Well I took a poll and it looks like we should just go ahead and start this thing up on Saturday.  Let’s all meet at noon at North Sea-Tac Park to sign up, hammer out details and take care of payments.

Bring your $10 to get into the Bag Tag Challenge. Also be prepared to submit the three courses that are to be on your preferred list.

One very important detail we will be discussing is Handicaps.   A couple of people have brought up the idea of giving people a handicap so the head to head challenges are a bit more competitive.  I am all for this and I am planning on giving it a try.  However, this first round of 27 holes is to set initial slotting/ranking and we will not be handicapping this particular round.

As of now it looks like we have myself, Jonathan, Matt, Eric R and Plympton for sure on Saturday.  Andy, Jason M and Jules are maybes.  Richard and Weaver are in for the challenge but cannot make this first round so they will be given the lowest slot available when they sign up.  I am also hoping we can rope Ethan and one or two others into this as it goes forward.

Thanks for joining me on this maiden voyage guys.  See you all Saturday.

Roundbrand Rebooted and Where We Go From Here

So after shelving Roundbrand for the better part of the past calendar year I believe it is time to get things going here again but in a bit of a different format. Rather than discuss what Roundbrand has been in the past, I want to just dive into what I want it to be going forward. It will continue partly as a place for people to see the schedule of upcoming games each week, but we will also be trying to get some more competitions going. We have been playing a ton of very close and well shot games lately and some of these rounds have deserved a bit of a spotlight too which means the occasional recap will be making a return.

Now rather than all of our games just being casual group affairs where we always play mixed doubles, we want to get more head to head games and serious solo rounds going also. The casual mixed doubles games will still happen but just not as often.

To kick the 2010 competition off I want to propose a Roundbrand Bag Tag Challenge. I will need input to find a good date to kick it off, so let me know what works for all of you. Rules are below.
