Roundbrand Results! 1/18/09 @ North Sea-Tac

We had an absolutely gorgeous day for Disc Golf on Sunday.  We moved our game over to North Sea-Tac because they were playing an Acepot at Lakewood.  It was a good day to attack this difficult course as there was little wind and the sun was shining the whole game.  It was actually warm enough that I never even had to put on my jacket.

If nothing else this game proved that as a group we are getting better.  I recently completed a list of the Top 10 scores the Roundbrand folks have scored at all of our regular courses.  On this day three of our four teams made it into that Top 10 and the last team just barely missed making the list.  In fact Dean and random newcomer Mike S set a Roundbrand record on the day for a two person team.

Mike S showed up at the first tee by himself and we convinced him to join our game as we had been sitting at an odd number of players.  He is a very good player and teaming him with Dean gave them a solid duo.  We also had Les out to join us for the first time in almost a year and a half and he had a fine day putting.

All told I did not see much of the other group play, but as you can see in the scores Mike S and Dean sat at even after 10 holes which is rather impressive.  To bag three birdies on this course is a darn good showing that I hope to someday reproduce.  As for the rest of us we battled it out for second place and it was close.  Thanks to some solid putting on the Back 9 Les and I were able to sneak out of there with a very solid score.  Jonathan and Linda also had a very fine showing on the day.  Someday we will crack our way into the 50′s on the course.  Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Scores are below the fold.

Roundbrand Results! 1/11/09 @ White River

We had a great round of Disc Golf on Sunday at White River.  It had all of the elements that you look for in a Roundbrand game.  We had a new player in Adam, we had a close game that came down to the last shot and most of all we had flooding that caused Hole 16 to be out of commission.

Adam teamed with me and he played very well.  Without some of Adam’s shots we would not have had a chance at taking the game.  We jumped out to an early lead and played hang on for the rest of the day.  As you will see in the scores it looked like we might be sitting pretty after the front 9, but it was not over so quickly.  Dean, playing as a California Double, and the team of Jonathan & Mikayla had strong games in them that allowed them to pull close as the game went on.

After 14 holes Dean had pulled in to a tie with us and Jonathan & Mikayla were a mere stroke behind.  All three teams matched each other shot for shot on the scorecard over the next 3 holes.  We all walked to the 18th hole with just one stroke seperating us.  A solid drive, approach & putt game netted Adam & I a par.  Dean had a good second shot that put him in range to par, but his putts came up just short dropping him out of the lead.  Jonathan & Mikayla had a drive that put them in birdie position, but once again putts that fell shy by inches cost them a chance to tie.

With those misses Adam and I won the game with an exhale.

Scores are below the fold.
