Roundbrand Results! 11/23/08 @ Mineral Springs

So we had a good showing of eight players on Sunday at Mineral Springs.  It was a lovely day to be out playing, but as has been the case in the past this course created angst amongst the Roundbrand crew.

It is a weird course I will admit.  Also, the first time I played this course my skills were not very advanced and yet that was the best I ever scored there.  Tight shots and tons of obstacles make this a difficult round for people used to Lakewood like we are.

All told, we had a decently played game.  In my group Linda had the shot of the day on hole 11.  Her tee shot made it all the way down the hill and put us into great birdie position.  However, birdies were not happening for us on this particular day.

This one was a battle between Weaver/Cathy and Jonathan/Plympton.  A 2 over on 17 for Jonathan/Plympton made the difference as Weaver and Cathy wrapped up a workmanlike 3 over 57.

Scores are below the fold.

Roundbrand Results! 11/15/08 @ Lakewood and Next Disc Golf Game 11/23/08 @ Mineral Springs

First I would like to start off with a quick recap of an awesome game last weekend.  This game at Lakewood came down to absolute domination by Jonathan.  While his teammates pitched in a few nice shots, even they would admit that he carried the day.

Hole 1 he drops his tee shot right next to the basket for a birdie.  Third hole he drives one all the way to the putting area and proceeds to hit the birdie putt himself.  On Hole 7 he threw a good tee shot but it did not compare to his 30ft plus birdie putt.  On Hole 9 he made a nice drive to the top of the hill and then proceeded to drop in a birdie putt from well over 50ft.  Lastly, on Hole 18 he made an incredible drive to get close to the basket.  On this one Dean stepped up to drill the birdie putt that clinched a 2-under par round.  It was an amazing display to watch.

Linda and I played well to finish 4 over, but we were never in this.  Mikayala was the other story of the day as she started to get some nice wrist snap into her shots for the first time.  While her aim will still need to be honed it was great to see her getting distance on her shots.  Oh, and neither team had a single double bogey the hole round which may be a first.

Scores are below the fold.

As for this weekend, I was hoping to head down to White River in Auburn but that will have to happen another day.  Instead we are heading north to Mineral Springs.  While I know it is not a favorite course with the Roundbrand Crew, but I need variety and playing Lakewood and Sea-Tac every week just is not cutting it.

Tee time is 11am so some of us can head off and watch another Seahawk bludgeoning afterwards.  Weather is looking pretty good on Sunday, but this course can hold water so wear good shoes.  See you all there.

Please Lend A Hand and Roundbrand Rankings 11/17/08

I am going to throw this out there and hope you can help out.  Dave Cameron of USS Mariner is up for a $10,000 College Scholarship.  Dave writes about the Mariners and also baseball in general at Fangraphs.  He is one of the most knowledgeable people I know on the topic of baseball and he has shaped my understanding of the game greatly.  He is in a fierce battle for this scholarship which is determined by an online poll found here.

If you are so inclined it would be awesome if you would vote for him.  We all know how much that amount will help Dave and his new bride financially as he works on his degree in Economics.  Feel free to pass this on to anyone who also may be willing to throw a vote his way.

Now some official Roundbrand business. Very little movement in this weeks Rankings as only Dean jumped up past Richard.  I am hoping we can get back to a more regular schedule soon.  Weather looks good, so if you can join us come on out to Sea-Tac tomorrow, Tuesday night, at 6:30PM for one of our Disc Golf in the Dark games.

Rankings are below the fold.

Disc Golf This Weekend

As you can see by the post Jonathan put up below this, there is an Acepot this Sunday at Lakewood.  Regrettably for me, I am going to be at Qwest Field watching the Seahawks grab their ankles so I cannot finish in last place again.  However, that will not stop me from playing this weekend.

How about a warm up round on Saturday?  Tee time will be noon at Lakewood.  Then, for those feeling adventurous I am thinking of a game in the dark on Sunday night at Sea-Tac.  Giving time for me to return from the game I think 6pm tee time should be safe.  I hope to see you at on or the other or both.
