Roundbrand Results! 7/20/08 @ Terrace Creek

I am not going to waste much time on this one because the Roundbrand Regulars made their voices heard loud and clear.  Terrace Creek sucks.  Yep, I said it.  It makes North Sea-Tac look well taken care of.  It has some crappy beat up targets.  Some of the holes are fun and interesting, but for the most part it is a pain in the butt.  Maybe it is great for pros to play, but we are not pros.  This is recreation for us.  The elevation changes on some of the holes were dangerous and it ate three of our discs.  Of course, North Sea-Tac can do that too.  We did get to introduce the game to my co-worker Chris and his son Adrian which was cool, but other than that it was a less than fun round.

Here are the scores.

Roundbrand Rankings 7/21/08

Well Disc Golfers it is time to look at the Rankings for this week.  We added two new players to the Part-Time Roster in my co-worker Chris and his son Adrian.  Biggest move of the week is Kara catching Ethan for a tie at 5th Place.  No movement at the top but a fair amount of people pushed their scores up this week.

Keep playing often while summer is here so you can beef up your Rankings.

Disc Golf Round – 7/20/08 @ Terrace Creek

It has been since the day after Thanksgiving that the Roundbrand crew made our one trek up north to Mountlake Terrace for a round of Disc Golf at Terrace Creek.  I think it is time we visit again.  We can look forward to a lot less frozen ground or mud bogs this time I am sure.  I have also been informed that there have been some changes to the layout since we were there last, so this should be a learning experience all over again.

I am expecting a good turnout for our 1:30PM Tee Time this Sunday.  We should be hosting a few first time players as well, so be ready to help coach your teammates.  See you all there!

Roundbrand Rankings 7/16/08

I apologize for getting the Rankings up late this week.  I usually do them on Sunday night, but Kara’s Birthday BBQ took that time up.  We had very little movement from last time since not many people played this past week.  Remember folks, this new Ranking system rewards playing often.  All you need is three members of the Roundbrand regulars and the game counts.  Just send your scores to me and I will get them in.

We did have two new players join the list this week in David and Nick.  A few of us were set to play a quick game last night and Weaver bumped into Nick who went to Franklin with him.  He and his friend David joined us for the game and David made quite a splash.  Hopefully we will see them join us again soon.

Roundbrand Results! 7/6/08 @ White River

Well it had been a few months since we had made our way down to White River in Auburn for a round of Disc Golf.  They currently have the course in its summer configuration.  Holes 4-6 have been moved into the woods and the order is very different now.  Thank goodness we had Dean & Linda to tour guide us through the changes because it would have been easy to get lost.  We also were able to play Hole 16 for the first time in a while now that the river has gone down a bit.  All in all it was a great day to be out and about.

We had a strong showing on Sunday of 11 people.  Jason M brought his friend Mark out for the first time and I hope he makes a regular showing.  He is a very skilled player and we love competition here at Roundbrand, so the more the merrier.  We broke up into 5 teams and went out and just kicked that courses butt.  The lowest score of the five teams would have been good enough to win just a few months ago.  Kudos to everyone for how much improvement we are seeing.

Shot of the day?  There were many that I got to witness.  Richard made a couple of nice putts for us to get us birdies.  Cathy had a fantastic birdie putt on 10 as did Jonathan on 15.  I made a drive on 9 that snaked through the trees and dropped right at the basket for an easy birdie.  Richard equaled that on Hole 15.  Add on a couple of long turbo putts for birdie by me and we saw a ton of great shots today.

This one came down to the bitter end.  After 15 holes Richard and I were sitting at 3 under par while Jonathan and Cathy were at 1 under and Jason M and Mark were even.  Jason M & Mark went 1 over on the last three to finish with the same score for the round.  Jonathan and Cathy parred out to finish at 1 under.  Richard and I flat choked missing putts on all 3 holes and getting two bogeys along the way.  That left us with two teams finishing the day at 1 under par.  By far the best showing we have ever had and it forced a playoff.

Back to Hole 1 we went.  Richard and I had the more favorable tee shot but did not convert the birdie so we had to go to a second hole.  Jonathan and Cathy played smartly and got a par to win the day while Richard and I completed our free fall from dominance with a bogey to end it.  It was an amazing showing by all and even if we did lose, I must admit I am excited about finally getting under par for the first time.

Enjoy the Scores!

Lakewood Park – Sunday 13th – 11AM Tee Time

Sunscreen and shorts weather is finally here (don’t blink).  The last several games have come down to the wire with incredibly close scores.  With the new rankings in place and the skill levels increasing I am sure this weekends bout will be nothing less than a hat tosser.

Bring your favorite hydration gear because you are going to need it and for those of you who are folically challenged you may want to invest in a cap (makes it easir to throw one when it comes off your head).

See you there.

Roundbrand Rankings 7/7/08

Well after much time spent going through old scorecards and recreating my spreadsheet I am ready to debut the new Rankings.  Without going into a ton of detail, I tried to make a system that rewards people who play often.  If you want an in depth answer about how this is set up go ahead and drop me a line.  Otherwise, I think the best way to think of this is that as long as you play twice a month you will never be penalized.  However, you need to play three or more times to receive any benefit.

I will Recap our round from yesterday soon, but I must say that Richard and I missed a golden opportunity to knock Jonathan down a peg.  As you can see below, Jonathan is way ahead of the rest of us right now.
