Thanks and a Disc Golf Round – 5/28/08 @ Lakewood

Thanks to everybody for such an awesome Birthday weekend!  I am too slammed for time to link to all the cool stuff, but here is a quick rundown.  Kara got me the Revolution Disc Golf Backpack.  This things rocks!  Room for everything I will ever need on the course.  Jonathan and Cathy gave me a new grill that was sorely needed.  Also rocks, but more importantly it cooks!  Mom and Dad gave me a wonderful day on Saturday including a round at White River, dinner at Saya’s and some cash that I turned into an APX Putter, a Star Wraith and a Champion Eagle for Kara so I could have my Eagle DX back.  Ethan and Nani gave me three new discs.  An Avenger, Force and another APX!  I have been sorely wanting to try the Avenger out, so that is very exciting.  Toss in the bottles of whiskey from Richard and also Vince and Wendy and I am clearly one spoiled boy.

I was thinking we should try and get a round in this week before Kara and I head out of town.  Let’s play late so Jonathan can hopefully join us.  Tee off at 7:15PM or so tomorrow at Lakewood.  It is supposed to rain, but who cares.  At least it is not in the 30′s anymore.

Also, make sure you pass on any scores to me that may happen while we are in Missouri so I can update the site when I get back.

Roundbrand Rankings 5/27/08

Yes, the site has been quiet lately and that is bound to continue for a while.  Jonathan is getting worked to the bone and I have vacation coming up next week.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that any time 3 or more regulars get together for a game it will count towards our Ranking system.  Just let me know the results and I will plug them in.  Well, a few such games have happened since our last Roundbrand Round.  The results have brought both Richard and Plympton into the fold as Regulars.  That gives us 12 Regulars which is pretty dang cool if you ask Jabu.

Roundbrand Results! 5/11/08 @ Lakewood

Sunday was Mother’s Day, so it was not surprising to only have four of us show up to play at Lakewood. We made it through 7 holes before the phones started ringing with a few others saying they wanted to join us late. So we went back and started over again. It was cool out , windy and a bit wet, but overall not a bad day to be out.

Plympton was able to join us and his rapid improvement helped his team a ton. Between the many talents of Dean and Kara and the improved play of Plympton this threesome ruled the day. Richard is also showing signs of getting very good at this game. I was all over the place Sunday and thanks to Richard we managed a respectable score.

Shot of the Day for me had to be a near miss by Ethan. First time I have ever seen a Disc hit the ground on it’s edge, bounce up and hit the chains and almost drop. It barely clanked away to the side, but it was a very cool shot nonetheless.  His teammate and lovely wife Nani also played a fabulous round after finally turning 23 years old last week.  Congrats to her!

All told, it was a competitive and fun round yet again. See you all out on the course soon! Here are the scores.

Roundbrand Rankings – 5/12/08

For the first time since we introduced the Rankings we had no movement in the standings. Most of that was due to only 5 Regulars showing up for the round yesterday. We did see Dean and Kara both gain on Ethan while Richard is now one round away from being included in the Regulars.

Before I show you the Leaderboard I do want to update my Schedule Info that I posted towards the end of April. After having participated in the Thursday Night Random Doubles at Lakewood the past two weeks I feel the need to change my mind. My team came in last both weeks and it was all my doing. I clearly need to improve my game before stepping in to play with the big boys. Due to this realization I am going to start scheduling some mid-week rounds again. It may be Tuesday nights, but I have not really hammered the idea out yet. Keep an eye out for this since I doubt I will do it every week.

Here is the Leaderboard.

Roundbrand Results! 5/4/08 @ North Sea-Tac

Well, as much as we have all improved, North Sea-Tac is the one course we will not be taming anytime soon. Overall we had some nice scores, but no team managed to play better than bogey Disc Golf. Kara and I finally won as a team after many failed attempts. We tied for the best score on the Front 9 with Weaver, Jason M & Mikayla and then tied for the best on the Back 9 with Jonathan & Cathy.

It was an absolutely beautiful day on Sunday. We had a nice showing of all the Regulars minus Ethan and Nani. Jason M also made it out. Regrettably Alexis pooped out on Weaver so he was only able to help his team for the first 9 Holes. There were a number of nice shots and close calls in my group, but nothing like we have seen in recent weeks. I did not get to see it, but apparently Mikayla had a great day of putting on the Front 9.

All told, it was another fun day at the park where we finally got to wear short sleeves for the whole 18. Here are the scores and see you all soon!

Roundbrand Rankings – Cinco de Mayo Style!

Hello people, let’s all pretend we are Mexican for a day and have an overpriced Margarita! Or we could go stand in line for an hour hoping to get a table at Azteca. No, well then never mind. I suggest an ice cold Pacifico at home with a wedge of lime and, here is the key, three shakes of salt directly into the beer. Try it, it is yummy.

Well, we have some news in the Rankings this week. Cathy makes her debut in the Regulars giving us ten players in that section. Due to her placing no lower than 2nd in any of her rounds to date she has jumped directly into 2nd place. That bumped everyone but Weaver down a notch.

Also of note, Kara continues her climb as she passes Linda this week after passing Nani last week. Look out Dean, you are next. Watch for Results from yesterdays Round to be posted tomorrow.

Here is the Leaderboard.
