What a great day for Disc Golf that was yesterday. We had the pleasure of having three new players for our round at Auburn Game Farm which gave us a large group. Our parents brought their neighbor Alan out for the first time and I also invited Brent who I see at both Lakewood and North Sea-Tac all the time. Brent is a really good player and it is fun to watch him shoot. He also brought Russell along with him for the round. Russell is another talented player that I have seen out a few times. He has been playing for 18 years by his count which makes him worth watching for tips and tricks.

Yesterday was also a day for celebration as the January Birthday week wrapped up. Mikayla was with us and afterwards we celebrated her 14th Birthday which was on the 5th. Thanks go to Jonathan and Mikayla for the awesome homemade Ravioli. Vince and Les also had their Birthdays last week, but regrettably neither was able to join us. So Happy Birthday to all of you and to Kevin and Penny too even though they are off skiing in Mammoth Lakes as they do every winter.

On to the Recap. Both Russell and Brent opted to play by themselves rather than partner up. Since there were eleven of us we ended up with 6 teams. It was close through the first nine holes. I think that had as much to do with the many trees in our way as anything. On the back 9 Brent played like a man on fire. No bogeys and two birdies helped him run away with the round.

Of note, I must say that was the best round Mom has ever played. She carried her team on more than one hole. Not only has she gotten good length on her shots, but her accuracy is very good now. Ethan played a very consistent round too. He rarely put himself in a bad position off of the tee. Russell played great, but I think his putting was infected by watching Kara and I clank shot after shot. If not for some really good approach shots we would have had a painful round. Thank goodness for gimme putts. Jonathan turned it up on the back 9 to finish strong even though his putter was also not playing along either.

Thanks again to the new players joining us. The more the merrier and I hope we can continue growing our group as the year goes along.

I think you meant 3 birdies for Brent. All in all it was a great day to play. I was thinking a hooky game was due soon with all the sun we have been having… Any takers for an afternoon game at Lakewood?

I’d be up for it if I had sold anything this week. Tough to sneak out when sales are slow.
