Lakewood Acepot – June 19 2011 – $300+ on the line

(re posted email from Eric)

G’day Lakewood Saucer Tossers,

For starters… the third Sunday monthly Acepot is coming up on June 19th (a week from this Sunday). Nobody’s hit the ace for some time now and it’s slowly grown to over $300! I’m planning to use the usual 27 hole, one round format but I’ll have to give a little thought to the exact configuration since the newly re-designed course will be in play. That means we’ll be meeting at the lower parking lot at about 9:30 and looking to tee off at about 10:00am. Entry fees continues to be $12 for Ams and $15 for Pros.

Additionally… The recently re-designed Lakewood Course is being inaugurated this weekend during the Battle of Seattle, a WA state series pdga “B” tier event. If you’re not playing in what promises to be an awesome tourney you might want to stop by either Lakewood or Seatac to watch some of the action or perhaps do a little spotting on one of the holes (I’m thinking Seatac here). Sunday afternoon’s final nine will be played at Lakewood and you can expect to encounter a festive gallery following the action (should start around 2:00pm).

And… There’s going to be a “bring your own partner” doubles event on Friday (yes, tomorrow!) called the Calm Before the Battle. Just show up (with your partner) between 5:00-5:45 to get signed up. It’s a great opportunity to check out the new Tee pads and benches that have been installed over the last couple of months.

All the best, Eric

Summer Bag Tag

Tomorrow, July 13th, we kick off the second Roundbrand Bag Tag of the year.  Plympton and Jules will be running this one.  The sign up is $20 and if you need a copy of the rules we will have them at Lakewood tomorrow.

There will be a couple of launches.  The first group is teeing it up around 5-5:30pm with a second start at 6pm.  If you cannot make it tomorrow there will be some folks playing on Wednesday as a make up game.

Any questions let Mike and Jules know.

Wrapping up the Bag Tag

Big thanks to everyone who participated in the first ever Roundbrand Bag Tag.  It was a learning process for me to put it on and I appreciated the patience and input as we broke ground.  We will definitely do it again with some fine tuning next time.  We started in February and had four months of fun competition.  In the end it was nine of us having a blast with this.  Next time let’s grow it to many more.

Final standings for the Bag Tag:

  1. Jules Park
  2. Jonathan Chicquette
  3. Eric Roberts
  4. Matt Griffin
  5. Mike Plympton
  6. Mike Weaver
  7. Vince Velie
  8. Jeff Chicquette
  9. Richard Tisdale

Next step for Roundbrand will be our first try at disc golf leagues.  Keep an eye out for the sign ups soon.

End of First Roundbrand Bag Tag and Random Samplings

Tomorrow at 6PM we finish our first ever Roundbrand Bag Tag.  Jonathan, Jules, Matt and Eric will be in the lead group battling for the first tag and some prize gift certificates to Chainbanger’z.

Over the weekend Jonathan, Plympton and myself played Pier Park in Portland twice and Steilacoom once.  Stayed dry the whole time and had a blast.  It is always nice to play somewhere different.  Thanks to those two for joining me.

Official sign ups coming soon for disc leagues.  Keep an eye out for that here.

Feedback Please Regarding Disc League

I need your feedback disc golfers.  We here at Roundbrand want to team with Chainbanger’z do a trial run this summer of a disc golf league and I need some help to get the ball rolling.  The basic goal is to create an opportunity for amateurs to get out and compete at disc golf without being run over by all the local pros.

To help with this each player will be given a handicap to level the playing field.  Players can create their own team or be assigned to one.  Format is as of yet to be determined, but we are planning a 10 week run where your team plays once a week on the same day each week.  For now I just need a few answers from everyone.

Would playing in a 10 week Disc Golf League appeal to you?

What two days of the week would you prefer to play on?

Would you be open to playing in more than one league?

Reply here and if you are not a regular reader put us in your feed so you can be up to date when we launch in July.

Thanks!

Schedule for the Week

This week I am again busy on Wednesday so I am scheduling a game on Thursday.  The days are getting longer still so I am going for a 5:30pm tee time and we will play Lakewood again.  As for this weekend, I am thinking we will be playing on Sunday evening this week.  Due to the fact that we have not gone down there in a while I am planning on playing White River that day.  As for exact time I am guessing around 4-5pm.  Check back later in the week for an update on that.

Quick Schedule Edit

On Saturday I will not be able to play directly after the meeting.  My plan now is to play Sea-Tac at 5:30pm instead.  That is if the weather doesn’t go too cold and wet on us.  I will send out a text on Saturday afternoon to confirm.

Community Meeting and Schedule for the Week

I want to remind everyone that there is a meeting on Saturday this week to further discuss the future plans for Westcrest Park.  Read Jonathan’s post here.  It would be good to get as many folks as possible to this.  The disc golf community showed well at the last one and hopefully that will repeat itself.  Getting a park here may be huge as the future of Lakewood is still vague from all I have learned.  Like last time I think we may try to play a round after the meeting.  Almost everyone went to Lakewood after the meeting last time so this time I think we may just do Sea-Tac.  Estimated start time would be 1pm.

Mid-week game will be very standard.  Start time of 5pm on Wednesday at Lakewood.
